Originating in times of lockdown and contact restrictions, the "digital machining market place" ("DiMaP" for short) has now established itself as a permanent fixture in the machining industry. Now that trade fairs are once again taking place, the third edition of the online conference will be a hybrid event: in the format of an online conference from September 21 to 24, 2021, and as a physical experience of digital machining at EMO in Milan from October 4 to 9, 2021. 16 technology-leading companies and institutes from industry and research will jointly present use cases for digital machining along the entire machining value chain.
DiMaP 3.0 - Invitation to the international usecase conference around digital machining
The pandemic is the mother of invention – The story of DiMaP
When the wireless sensor systems company pro-micron GmbH from Kaufbeuren launched the first DiMaP conference in March 2020, the motivation was to compensate for the lack of trade show opportunities during the Corona phase. What was initially intended as a presentation venue for companies offering digital machining solutions quickly turned into something much bigger, much more strategic and, above all, something driven by close collaboration along the value chain. "DiMaP is new to all of us, but the community and collaboration that has been created has already made it indispensable," says Hubertus von Zastrow, DiMaP initiator and managing partner of pro-micron GmbH. So DiMaP in July 2020 was already followed by DiMaP 2.0 in March 2021, in a larger and even more professional format with 16 exhibitors and more than 1,000 participants as well as a proud 4,484 seminar registrations.
DiMaP 3.0 – hybrid and user-specific
Following on from this success, DiMaP 3.0 will be held for the second time this year - now as a hybrid event with 16 companies and institutes along the machining value chain. From September 21 to 24, the DiMaP 3.0 online conference will feature a total of 43 presentation slots and collaborative use cases in German and English. Then, from October 4 to 9, the physical digital machining experience path will start at EMO in Milan. The idea is to meet in person at EMO in Milan after DiMaP's online launch. The "DiMaP 3.0 Trail" published by DiMaP members will point the way here. Following this map of the DiMaP partner companies, the EMO visitor can personally exchange information on specific use cases of digital machining with the participating companies. This approach will also be decisive for the upcoming combinations of DiMaP and physical trade shows.
DiMaP 3.0 is now to become even more user-specific. For this purpose, special use cases will be presented live. Scenarios specially adapted to the interests of customers will be solved for more detailed illustration. This enables interested parties to recognize the concrete significance of the products of companies such as pro-micron, DMG, CERATIZIT, Big Data Manufacturing, REGO-FIX, Blaser Swisslube or gemineers for their company. "DiMaP is an opportunity to grow together as a value chain, to integrate individual offerings and to present these as well-matched, easy-to-implement and manageable solutions," says Alfred Geißler, Managing Director of DMG MORI subsidiary Deckel Maho in Pfronten.
DiMaP 3.0 offers visitors and exhibitors a professional trade fair platform. Via the DiMaP Website, the visitor gets to the virtual trade fair site with just one click. In the online conference hall, the visitor can register for the collaborative usecase presentations, each in German and English. Each exhibitor has a virtual booth with additional information, videos and live chat options. An ideal place to get into conversation with the speakers.
Innovative presentation of technologies
User proximity is a core element that distinguishes DiMaP, explains founder and initiator of DiMaP Hubertus von Zastrow: "Industrial innovation based on Industry 4.0 is only possible through close interaction between the partners in the value chain in order to solve complex problems for the customer in an easily manageable way. The prerequisite for this is standards - such as GaiaX - and Europe has the perfect opportunity to set these standards and use them as an advantage in international competition. Innovation is needed not only in technology, but also in the formats of how we bring our technology from Europe to the world."
At DiMaP, 16 companies will present common use cases, for example for aerospace, automotive or medical technology. "Because high-precision metal cutting is an essential success factor everywhere," von Zastrow continues. "Digital twin, AI-based process algorithms or automated integrated 100% quality control are important buzzwords here. In this way, we can preserve jobs in high-wage countries through superior technology - at the same time, it is important to train our employees accordingly to implement these technologies." Since the first DiMaP, leading trade show organizers have already contacted the organizing team. DiMaP as a cooperation partner with physical trade shows bodes well for the future. One goal for the future is undoubtedly to develop a concept that combines digitization with the benefits of a physical trade show.
